Interpersonal Cognitive Distortions Among the Community-dwelling Elderly in Tehran, Iran

Background & Aims Interpersonal cognitive distortion (ICD) is one of the psychological problems in old age that causes a person not to have correct and logical understanding relations. Its continuation can lead anxiety depression. This study aims determine ICDs among community-dwelling elderly Tehran, Iran. Materials Methods In this descriptive-correlational study, participants were 200 older people dwelling urban parks Iran who selected using cluster sampling method from December 2020 October 2021. Data collection tools included demographic form, abbreviated mental test score (AMTS), interpersonal scale (ICDS). The collected data analyzed SPSS software, version 16 software descriptive statistics (Mean±SD, No. (%)) inferential (Pearson correlation test, independent t-test, analysis variance). Results mean total ICD was 52.53±8.29 out 95, which indicates moderate level elderly. terms dimensions ICDS, unrealistic relationship expectations had highest (2.91±0.57), while dimension rejection lowest (2.64±0.52).
